Registration for August PTSOS Now Open!

The next PTSOS meeting will be on August 23 at Los Gatos High School from 9 to 4.

Our format is informal, flexible, and friendly. We like to think that everyone leaves the workshop with something they can use right away in their classrooms. Most of the teachers who attend teach regular high-school physics, but we also see many AP Physics teachers, college physics teachers, junior-high physical-science teachers, and even math, chemistry, and biology teachers.

Thanks to our generous benefactors (especially the Karl Brown family), the workshop is free, including a free, onsite lunch and coffee and doughnuts.

Our workshops are open to new teachers, student teachers, prospective teachers, teachers who’ve been teaching something else but are new to teaching physics, and even teachers who have been teaching physics for a while but still feel like they’re new. Teachers who have never attended the first workshop in the series are considered “Newbies” at this workshop and will get preferential registration and the best “seats” at the workshop. Teachers who have attended Workshop #1 before are affectionately called “Repeat Offenders.”

Registration is taken via email on a first-come, first-served basis. Our workshops usually fill up and then get waiting lists. Most of the time, everyone on the waiting list eventually gets in. For Repeat-Offender registration, priority will be given to Repeat Offenders who recruit new participants.

If you would like to register, all you have to do is email Stephanie Finlander at sfinander@sbcglobal.net with the following information:

name
school (it’s okay if you’re not teaching yet)
school city
mailing address (home or school — your choice)
phone number

She will email you back confirming that your registration has been received and telling you what your status is (registered or wait-listed). If you don’t receive a confirmation email, please email again because it might mean that your registration didn’t go through.
